Day 7 - I am finally a social butterfly

We kinda got to sleep in today since breakfast was at 8:30. It was a weird tasting hot dog so I just had some tea. For the morning we were going to an English class with the Mongolians. We were in three groups and made posters with drawings representing American and Mongolian holidays. My group did Valentines Day and 4th of July. I decorated the Valentines side. It looked like a two year old did. Not my best piece. Then we showed them where we were from on a map. The Mongolians are very nice and smiley. One of them, Joy, is kinda like their designated translator since she speaks the best English. After the class we went to the gym. While there I taught Joy and one other girl how to make friendship bracelets. It was a little hard to teach them. Mostly because I had to show them and couldn’t explain the patter or really any specifics. They both kinda got it by the time we had to go to lunch.

After lunch we had some free time before we went to paint the classroom. I just read. I haven’t gotten too much time to read because I’ve been so social. Something I thought would never happen. Mongolia, the land where the impossible is possible. Anyway we painted a classroom floor with the Mongolian students but the paint made me a bit light headed so it was a little hard to paint for a long time but it only took us like half an hour. A lot quicker than usual.

Once we finished painting we went to the gym and the Mongolians and American each got a poster where they wrote down lyrics to a song. We chose Imagine by John Lennon. They did “if your happy and you know it” but in Mongolian. I actually could sing it and picked it up pretty quickly. Me picking up a language fast. Mind blowing. It was really fun. Then we just played volleyball and basketball till dinner. We played some horse. I was decent. Only got an H. Boom.

Dinner was pretty short because we all wanted to shower before our hike. We ended up hiking to the top of a hill to see the sunset. We unfortunately missed it but stayed there for a long time. It was so relaxing and serene. I could have fallen asleep there. It was such great bonding time. I feel like I’ve known these people for so long. We’ve all bonded so well I hope I stay in touch with them after the trip. We headed back once it was dark. It was really fun and chill. I am really looking forward to more bonding nights.
