Day 6: Captain Underpants Toilets

I slept in the cutest little gur and it was so comfortable. I actually slept pretty well and didn’t wake up at 5am today. I went outside the gur and the view was so beautiful and the weather was wonderful. The mountains were so pretty and you could see some herds of horses and nomads on E-bikes herding them. For breakfast I had some yummy potato soup and bread. Mother and Father, next spring break we should go to a gur camp and glamp. It would be so fun. Anyway after breakfast I went to go play on the swing and then we decided to play a group game. One person stands in the middle and says “the wind blows for someone....” Then everybody that the comment applies to has to move and one person is left in the middle. It’s like musical chairs kinda. When I was in the middle I said people who are over five feet. Shorties for da win.

Around 9:45 am we got onto the bus to start the drive to the school. It was two hours with one stop to buy snack, toilet paper and baby wipes. When we got there we met some South Korean group of high schoolers who also volunteered there but the week before. Their leaving tomorrow so their not here for much time. They were all super cheerful and excited. People that are too cheerful sometimes freak me out. Like if Pinkie Pies, I don’t know what I’d do. Anyway we dropped off our bags in the dormitories, which are a lot more rundown than I imagined. Once we dropped our stuff off, we had to face the horror of the squat potties. It was a hole in the ground you squat over that smells horrible. Honestly it wasn’t the best but not horrible. It kinda reminded me of the evil toilets in Captain Underpants, but it’s nothing like them. Anyway after the Captain Underpants toilets, we went to play a frisbee game called 500. It’s where one person throws and they say the number of points and if it’s dead or alive. For example when I was the thrower I said, alive, three hundred. I won once like a pro. It was a bit hard to get it with everybody having huge arms and being tall. Shorties not for the win right now.

Anyway after the game we went to have potato soup and spaghetti for lunch while we planned what to do with the Mongolian students later. They were all super nice when we met them. We played green light, red light for a little then we played the Mongolian version of Simon says. After that we had a few hours till dinner so we went to their gym to play volleyball and basketball. Mongolia is a magical land. Here’s why, during basketball everyone said I was good at basketball. I know it’s Neverland or something. Anyway I also played some volleyball but I was just kinda standing there. We eventually tired, so we did yoga in a group. That lasted about ten minutes before people got bored. Then they saw me do a jui jitsu back and front roll. They thought I was a ninja and I tried teaching a few of them. It was really fun.

Dinner was okay but after that we went on this beautiful hike. It was so tiring but so worth it. The view was breathtaking and like nothing you’ve ever seen. On the way up Susie and I picked flowers and put it in our hair. I felt like Moana. The hike was amazing. Very tiring but in a good way. I’m not even gonna try to describe it anymore because it’s indescribable.

After the hike, we all hung out outside and talked. I am surprisingly very comfortable with these people and super social. Mather, Father I’m a big girl now. Anyway, I really want to keep in touch with them. Unfortunately they all use Snapchat instead of texting. Not having Snapchat doesn’t usually bother me because it seems pointless but in situations like this you realize that it’s not just social media anymore it’s the new way to communicate. It’s like the new iMessage for so many people my age, and you’ve gotta just accept that. So mother father if you could think about it. Anyway once the sun started to set we headed inside and all the girls came to my room and talked and did bracelets. I love talking to them. It’s really nice to have older girl friends who don’t judge you and are super chill and fun. I really hope we stay friends after this because their really fun people to hang out with.

Unfortunately we had to go to bed. Granted we were being kinda loud, but tomorrow night I hope we can do that again.

  1. Em - Sydney had to explain Pinkie Pinks but I get it know. Maybe you can convince everyone how cool it is to go retro and use phone calls and texting instead of Snapchat.

  2. I am wondering what a gur is? I tried looking it up and couldn't find anything. Great pictures!
