Day 1: Airport Hobos
I get on my first plane to New York, which was pretty simple. I luckily did not have to sit in a middle seat. So I slept, very uncomfortably, might I add. I got to New York around 3 and found my way to terminal one like a pro. There I met up with Mariyama and Madison. Their both also going to Mongolia. Their also both seniors.
We sat in the airport in the food court for about 4 hours. We were like airport hobos for a bit. We slept on our luggage and sat in the corner. Anyway around 8, we met up with the rest of the group and chilled till we could check our luggage.
Once our luggage was checked and we got past security, we went off to get some snacks and dinner, but we had to go in groups of three. Not that I mind doing that per se, but going to the bathroom in groups of three all the time is a bit funky. Anyway, after a little shopping we talked as a group till we boarded. By then it’s 12:30 am and I am pooped as poop.
The long flight was well long. I mostly slept throughout the whole thing. I was in the middle aisle so people kept hitting my head when they walked by. When we got off, it was super windy and we had to take a bus to the actual airport with all the gates and stuff. We get there with 30 mins to get to our connecting flights gate. I walk in, see the super long lines and think “eh no.” We were not gonna make it to our flight in time with all the lines and security.
Turns out I was right. We missed our flight. So now there are 14 airport hobos in Moscow airport on 4th of July. We ended up having to stay the night at some airport provided hotel. Snazzy right? There’s a catch. We can’t actually leave the hotel since we don’t have visas. We aren’t even allowed to go to the buffet for breakfast. We’re getting room service. That one isn’t too bad though cause room service. Everyone loves room service. We also don’t have our luggage so yay dirty two day old clothes. Sydney you would have fainted by now, maybe.
You sound like such a travel pro! Pretty nice looking beds for airport hotel in Moscow
