Day 16: I touched a goat

Today is the day we leave for our home stay. I’m freaking out man. We woke up a dm all of us are super nervous. We get one last language lesson before we leave, never to be seen again. Just kidding. Hopefully. Anyway all the families came at 11am. We all said hi, got our stuff and left. Just like that we were off. My family had a car. The drive was about 20 minutes. During the drive me and their 11 year old daughter, Arvinkhishig, kinda talked. We used a translating app for a lot of it. I learned she likes to draw and can play the piano. We arrived at one yurt and unloaded my stuff then drove to another yurt up the hill. This is where her 24 year old brother and his wife and kids live. I know they have one baby but there are three other girls and I’m not actually sure if their his kids because they don’t act like his kids. As in no hugs or kisses or anything. Also their 9,8 and 4 and he is 24 so I doubt their his kids.

After I said hi to them we went back down to the first yurt and had some bread. Soon I saw them bringing stuff to build a yurt next door. I’ve never seen a yurt built and let me tell you. It’s actually super fast and officiant, which is expected but from looking at one it seems hard to see it built within thirty minutes. While they were building the yurt I played with the baby for a bit. He’s so cute and chubby. We also played volleyball and rode bikes. Definitely not mountain bikes but they got the job done. After that we played hopscotch. I never learned the righty way to play hopscotch. I thought you just jump, but they taught me how to play the right way, or the Mongolian way. I think I won too.

For dinner we had marmot. I saw it skinned and torched and cut up. Very disgusting but it actually tasted very good. Although when they cut it open rocks came out. Why that is. I have no clue. After dinner we played Mongolian monkey in the middle. Once it started getting dark we went up to the see their cows and goats, who are surprisingly docile. They have so many. I pet Arvinkhs goat, Algaa, and she was kinda soft. She sneezed a lot and scared the falafel out of me. Also all the goats Lee making farting noises but I don’t know if it’s coming from their butt or mouth. It’s so often it can’t be an actual fart.

After the farting goats, we went down and went to bed. I was so tired I fell asleep immediately.
